AMK-lehti / UAS Journal issue 1/2023 is themed with current topics and the diverse functions and different roles of universities of applied sciences in cooperation with companies, as well as in research and development activities.
How do universities of applied sciences develop their cooperation services to promote cooperation with companies and the world of work? How can R&D activities help create permanent service and cooperation models to support communities, and support teaching facilities?
We are also looking for concrete examples of cooperation between universities of applied sciences and the world of work, as well as sustainability and effective results in R&D.
We wish that the authors somehow consider the exceptional year 2022 under the shadow of a pandemic and a war. How have the varied circumstances affected emphases and implementation in RDI activities in the universities of applied sciences?
We wish to receive article manuscripts both from universities of applied sciences and other organisations. In addition to articles, we welcome less formal reviews and summaries, news and literary reviews in the field, as well as examples of cooperation between universities of applied sciences and companies, international partners, or other actors.
You may also submit audiovisual content.
The maximum length of an article is 10,000, a review 4,000 and other categories approximately 3,000 characters (spaces included). Instructions for writers can be found in uasjournal.fi/in-english/instructions-for-writers. Please read them carefully before submitting your text. We would also like to encourage you in co-writing with company representatives or students.
In AMK-Lehti / UAS Journal calls for papers, we regularly receive more article suggestions than we are able to publish. Usually around half of suggestions can be published, amounting in 12–15 articles per issue. Because of this, in the first phase we ask the authors to submit an abstract of max. 200 words. We will then build up the issue and ask the chosen authors for full-text manuscripts and image suggestions. The guest editors will give comments to the manuscripts. The authors will have roughly a week’s time to edit their texts. See closer schedule below.

- Send an abstract of approximately 200 words to mervi.friman(at)hamk.fi by 25 November 2022.
- Response based on the abstract will be sent during the week 49.
- Send the article manuscripts and photos (2–3/article) to mervi.friman(at)hamk.fi by 22 January 2023.
- Feedback will be sent to the responsible author during the week 5.
- Send your final version by 12 February 2023.
- The issue will be published during the week 10.
